Conor McGregor is taking shots at Dustin Poirier while he is lying in a hospital bed.
Dustin Poirier is currently sitting in a hospital trying to heal up from a very bad infection but that is not stopping Conor McGregor from throwing some shade his way. Early Monday morning, top-ranked UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier took to his social media to reveal that he is having a difficult time with a staph infection. He posted to his Twitter and described the situation as “serious”.
Later it was reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN that Poirier is suffering from a staph infection in his foot that doctors are having a hard time treating with antibiotics.
Some context on Dustin Poirier’s (@DustinPoirier) IG posts about being hospitalized … told me it’s staph, but he’s not responding to antibiotics over the last 24 hours. Undergoing further blood work now, hopefully get some answers today.

Conor McGregor first wishes Dustin Poirier well and then promises to end him
In response to the first report of Poirier’s health, his former opponent, Conor McGregor sent a backhanded “get well soon” his way. Poirier then asked McGregor if he was finished filming the Road House sequel he has spent the last few months working on. That is when things took a turn.
McGregor shot some shade back at Poirier and threatened to face him inside the Octagon once again.
“Ye I’m in Amsterdam jacked like van damn,” he wrote. “You weren’t just hurt pal. You were scared hurt don’t forget it. I’m coming back to put you in a box. Full of it. I’m sending you off this earth. Permanent. Stay waiting for the road house as well pal you and the missus will love it.”
Poirier and McGregor have fought thrice now, once back in 2014 and twice again in 2021. Poirier was victorious the second time and third time via TKO. McGregor suffered a leg break in the last fight and has been out of competition since. With McGregor being the biggest star in the UFC, many fighters have been looking to share the cage with him when he returns, now it seems McGregor might have his eye on the fourth fight with Poirier.
The extent of Poireir’s infection might keep him out of the gym for a while and although he is currently in a good place within the division, thanks to his recent win over Michael Chandler, he could be sidelined for a while.
