Despite his long layoff, "The Notorious" certainly isn't lacking in confidence.

Conor McGregor claims that he’s the “most dangerous vertical puncher on this planet.”

Conor McGregor isn’t lacking confidence

Conor McGregor is currently preparing to make his Octagon return, potentially later this year. The Irishman is recovering from a broken tibia suffered in his last contest. McGregor was defeated via TKO against Dustin Poirier in their last bout back in July of 2021 due to “Notorious” breaking his tibia during the fight.

Now, months into his recovery, McGregor has taken to Instagram to share an update on his comeback. The former featherweight and lightweight champion shared a video of himself practicing some ground-and-pound. In his caption, McGregor dubbed himself “the most dangerous vertical puncher on this planet.”

Me Tarzan, You Jane! I am the greatest and most dangerous vertical puncher on this planet. You fight me you are fighting for your life. Simple as that! Your way of living going forward, at best. Everyone in the game knows it. I.Do.Real.Damage. Is mise Gorrilla

McGregor still trying to make history

Obviously, McGregor got some backlash for this claim in the comments, especially since he hasn’t picked up a victory since January of 2020. That victory came against Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, who has since admitted that he quit the fight the moment McGregor gave him the opportunity. Prior to that, McGregor hadn’t won since his 2016 lightweight title win over Eddie Alvarez.

Currently, McGregor has lost three of his last four fights. Despite this, he’s still trying to angle for a return fight against UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. McGregor seems to be targeting another history-making feat, which would be capturing a UFC title in a third weight class. It will be intersting to see who the UFC matches McGregor up against upon his return to Octagon action.
