Colby Covington Expecting Trump Family At Next Fight
Former interim UFC Welterweight champ Colby Covington is set to face Robbie Lawler on August 3rd. It seems that, according to him, there will be very special guests in attendance.
Covington is facing Lawler in Newark, NJ, in his first fight in over a year. After he beat Rafael dos Anjos, in 2018, Covington took his interim belt to meet the President. Covington is an active supporter of Donald Trump, and was ecstatic to meet him.
It seems that the meeting last year has opened the door for Covington to have a relationship with Trump’s children. In an interview with BJPenn.com, Covington stated that Eric and Donald Jr. will be at his next fight.
“I was over at the Trump Tower when I went and visited the troops for three weeks. So, I had a good meeting with them up at Trump Tower. They said they would be at my next fight. So I’m excited, man, having Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, the first family there. It’s going to be an incredible experience. The atmosphere is going to be electric and you know, we’re going to put on a show for ESPN. They’re going to be very excited. They’re going to get more than their money’s worth.”
It would be quite the statement if the Trump family makes an appearance at a UFC event. Especially for someone like Colby Covington, who is not known as a big star.
Colby Covington faces Robbie Lawler in the main event, at UFC on ESPN 5, on August 3rd in Newark, NJ.
