Colby Covington wasn’t impressed with Michael ‘Venom’ Page’s UFC debut.

On March 9, former Bellator welterweight ‘MVP’ fought with his new promotion for the first time during the UFC 299 pay-per-view main card. The electrifying striker made a lasting impression on the fans by performing an Undertaker-themed walkout before dominating Kevin Holland in a unanimous decision win

Page was unable to secure a finish, but he made most fans intrigued to see what’s next. Meanwhile, number four-ranked UFC welterweight Colby Covington thought the 36-year-old’s performance was awful, which he revealed by saying this during an interview with Submission Radio

“The guys is trash, he’s a bum. Look at his last fight before [Kevin Holland]. He got beat by a guy who fights in Indian casinos. He got beat by Mike Perry. We saw how the Mike Perry experience ended up in the UFC, got his nose crooked, smashed, and knocked out three or four times in a row.”

Covington further discredited Page’s UFC debut win:

“So, it just shows the kids is just hype. They’re trying to hype him up. They’re giving him a guy in Kevin Holland, who is a complete scrub, 50/50 fighter at best in the division and that’s all you could do? That pathetic fight and that pathetic walkout? That wasn’t entertaining. It doesn’t work. It only works when you’re good, and you’re at the top of the division. Not when you’re fighting scrubs that shouldn’t even be fighting in the UFC in the first place.”

Colby Covington labels Michael ‘Venom’ Page as ‘easy money paycheck’ for potential future fight

In December 2023, Colby Covington suffered a unanimous decision loss in his latest fight against Leon Edwards for the UFC welterweight title. ‘Chaos’ is healing a severe foot injury he suffered in the UFC 296 main event, but he’s begun looking for his next opponent.

During the previously mentioned Submission Radio interview, Covington had this to say about potentially fighting Michael ‘Venom’ Page:

“I didn’t make anything of [MVP’s UFC debut]. I just saw another easy money paycheck if the UFC ever wants to give me that in the future.”

Earlier this week, Colby Covington released a video calling out number seven-ranked UFC welterweight Ian Garry. ‘Chaos’ used mental warfare to potentially secure a fight against Garry by insulting him and his wife multiple times
