Colby Covington isn’t sold on Leon Edwards actually making it to the Octagon at UFC 296.

Covington is set to challenge for the UFC welterweight title against Edwards on Dec. 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s a big fight and one many fans are looking forward to, as on paper, it is a very competitive scrap. However, ‘Chaos’ doesn’t think Edwards poses much of a threat to him.

Instead, all Colby Covington is worried about is Leon Edwards actually showing up to the Ocatgon and not pulling out.

“The biggest challenge is if he’s going to show up or not. The guy is out here soaking up on the sidelines, playing f*****g a little Karen over there, ah feel and for me, give me sympathy, give me a year,” Covington said to Submission Radio. “Let me wait a year or two to fight again. The only thing I have to worry about is if he’s going to show up or not. No matter what boys, on December 16 I will be crowned undisputed champion of the world. Whether it’s him or the next guy in line, it doesn’t matter to me. I’m here to do the biggest and best business for the UFC, the company I love so much, the company I want to be here for the rest of my life.”

Covington doubts Makhachev will fight him

If the fight does happen at UFC 296, Colby Covington is extremely confident he will finish Leon Edwards to become the UFC welterweight champion.

Should Covington win the belt, he has already said he wants his first title defense to be against UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. However, ‘Chaos’ doubts Makhachev will actually move up in weight to fight him, despite what he has said recently.

“Leon’s first and then it needs to be American wrestling vs. Dagestani wrestling,” Covington said. “Everybody wants to see that fight, Makhachev is starting to run his mouth, but we know guys, his manager Abdelasleaze (Ali Abdelaziz) won’t let him get in my crosshairs. He can say whatever he wants to the media, but Makhahcev knows I’d smack the shit out of him. He wouldn’t be able to mess with raw American steal. He’s nothing more than a sheep herder.”

As of right now, Colby Covington is just focused on Leon Edwards and UFC 296 as he looks to become the welterweight champ.
