Chuck Liddell Vs Tito Ortiz 3 Slated For Golden Boy MMA On November 24

Chuck Liddel And Tito Ortiz Will Fight For The Third Time Under Oscar De La Hoya Promotion

Oscar De La Hoya had serious intentions since the beginning. He was even publicly inviting disgruntled UFC fighters to join his promotion. In the end, he was able to set the third match between two former UFC superstars! Chuck Liddell Vs Tito Ortiz is slated for November 24, 2018, under Golden Boy MMA banner! The California State Athletic Commission confirmed both fighters are finalizing licenses.

“I’m excited for our first Golden Boy MMA event,” De La Hoya told ESPN. “It reminds me of the first-ever fight I did in boxing [in 2002]. I’m going to see how this one goes, but just the way I did in boxing, I plan on becoming a regular promoter of MMA. There’s no reason I should only promote one sport.

“I strongly feel MMA fighters are going to be pleased with the fact I’m entering the sport. Hopefully, we will sign some great fighters and go from there.”

Oscar De La Hoya offered a different payout structure than UFC. He says he is sick and tired of the fighters who come and say they are paid crappy. Oscar doesn’t want to go into details but he promises a lot!

“I can’t get into the specifics of these deals, but I’ll tell you that [Liddell and Ortiz] will be making a hell of a lot more money than they have with anybody else. They’ll participate in revenue from PPV, gate and everything else that comes in. This will be the most lucrative fight of their careers.”

Chuck Liddell (21-8 MMA, 16-7 UFC) has been known as a knockout artist. He made an amazing street of seven consecutive KOs. He last fought at UFC 115 on June 12, 2010, when he was defeated by Rich Franklin via first-round KO.

Tito Ortiz (19-12-1 MMA, 15-11-1 UFC) is a fantastic wrestler. He had four fights in Bellator between 2014 and 2017. He last fought at Bellator 170, where he defeated Chael Sonnen via first-round rear-naked choke.

Chuck Liddel and Tito Ortiz have already fought two times. In the first place, they faced at UFC 47 on April 2, 2004. Chuck Liddell won via KO (punches). They met again at UFC 66 in a UFC Light Heavyweight title match. The Iceman won again, this time via third-round TKO.

De La Hoya believes both guys are warriors and pioneers. He expects a lucrative fight.

“Obviously, both guys are warriors and pioneers,” De La Hoya said. “It’s like [Floyd] Mayweather vs. [Manny Pacquiao, in 2015]. People were asking for that fight for the longest time. It finally happened and it broke records.

“I think this fight will be very lucrative for both guys. This is an opportunity for them to show the world they still have what it takes to fight in the Octagon. I strongly feel it’s never too late with two guys like this. Two names of this caliber, you can’t go wrong.”

Who is your favorite – Chuck Liddell or Tito Ortiz? Can Oscar De La Hoya break the records in the style of Logan Paul and KSI?
