Former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman Doubled Down With His opinion About Adesanya On Social Media
Last weekend rising UFC middleweight contender Israel Adesanya picked up the biggest win of his career after beating legendary Anderson Silva in an exciting striking match at UFC 234. Following his win ‘The Last Stylebender’ received a fair share of criticism from two fellow UFC 185-pounders Chris Weidman and Paulo Costa.
Former UFC middleweight champion Weidman weighed in on the Adesanya’s performance and called him “just a tad bit overrated.” Then undefeated Paulo Costa also expressed his displeasure over Israel Adesanya’s win and said “scrawny clown” won’t make it past two rounds against him.
‘The Last Stylebender’ didn’t let those insults come on his way and fires back to those critics. (via MMAFighting).
“I didn’t pay any mind to Chris Weidman [saying] I’m overrated,” Adesanya said. “OK, why, because he beat Silva a little bit more handily than I did. You know. I’m overrated. Interesting. I could say the same thing about him. Heavily. Yeah, When I get this belt in my next fight, they can all line up, and they can find out how overrated I am. And Chris Weidman, that’s his opinion, that’s his opinion, and I don’t have to pay any attention to it. But yeah, overrated, that’s interesting. Hmmm.”
Well, “All-American” who’s 1-4 inside the Octagon and has been out of title scene for some time. Adesanya quickly rises to middleweight landscape, but Weidman still sticking to his opinion and fired few more shots at Nigerian born.
He wouldn’t have much of a chance against me. Has he fought a top 5 guy yet ? A jitsu guy or top wrestler?

Got a lot of Twitter fingers coming at me about saying Israel is a little overrated. Just my opinion. He hasn’t fought 1 top 5 guy. No top wrestler or jitsu guy. Was a -700 fave over Silva??? According to odds after seeing fight showed he was overrated. Close fight

Weidman is currently benched due to neck surgery. Most recently he suffered a third-round knockout loss to Ronaldo Souza at UFC 230 back in November, despite a bumpy ride Weidman still believes he is a major threat at middleweight.
Do you think Israel Adesanya will take over the 185-pound division down the road?
