Cat Zingano would like a rematch with UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Julianna Pena at some point down the road.

Back in July 2016, Zingano and Pena collided in the featured prelim bout of UFC 200. Zingano was hoping to rebound from her 14-second submission loss to Ronda Rousey. “Alpha” ended up losing the fight via unanimous decision.

Cat Zingano Wants Rematch With Julianna Pena

During an interview with Helen Yee, Cat Zingano explained why things didn’t work out for her in the bout with Julianna.

“It’s definitely a fight I would want to try again. We ended up having a split decision [it was unanimous] when we fought. I had a hard time with that fight. Just a lot going into that training camp. It was my first fight back after losing to Ronda and just a lot was going on with my life.

“I was away from my kid, filmed that documentary series, and it’s something that I would like to give a shot where I’d be able to not be distracted as much. Also was on different medications at the time that kinda made me a little flat. I talked about it before. I’d like to see it happen again.

“I’d like to see how that goes. I didn’t feel like I lost to her because of anything other than just really didn’t care [laughs].”

Zingano is currently a member of the Bellator roster, so a rematch with Pena isn’t likely anytime soon, if ever. Zingano could be on the road to Bellator gold, however, as she has been eyeing a showdown with 145-pound champion Cris Cyborg.

“Alpha” was scheduled to take on Pam Sorenson at Bellator 276 but that plan was scrapped. Zingano said it’s looking like the bout will be rescheduled for June 24.
