Bryce Mitchell does not believe in evolution.
That really should come as no surprise considering the hardcore Southerner has routinely hijacked his interviews in recent years to push his political and religious agendas. Mitchell has delivered long-winded rants on everything from his Second Amendment rights to his support of the flat earth theory, even going so far as to challenge longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan to a debate on the subject.
Ahead of his return to the Octagon at UFC Vegas 79 on Saturday night, ‘Thug Nasty is at it again, this time tackling evolution whilst speaking to Michael Bisping and Anthony ‘Lionheart’ Smith on the former’s Believe You Me podcast.
“Oh, here’s where I wanted to go with this, Bisping,” Mitchell began. “Here’s where I want to go with this. And you don’t have to elaborate, or anything. Do you believe that we evolved from monkeys?”
An initially apprehensive Bisping responded by saying, “Yes” which sent ‘Thug Nasty’ into an absolute meltdown, suggesting that Bisping’s belief is nothing more than a “lie from Satan.”
“Bullsh*t! that’s bullsh*t. It’s bullsh*t, it’s a lie from Satan! It’s a lie from Satan, brother! You have been tricked, you have been deceived. We are not coming from monkeys,” Mitchell exclaimed. “We are the apex predators.”

Mitchell was far from done, telling Bisping that gravity is nothing more than another scientific hoax that he’s been spoonfed.
“You put your faith in science, but let me tell you right now Bisping: Gravity ain’t real!” Mitchell continued. “You want to tell me you don’t believe in God because there’s no evidence, show me the proof of gravity. You know why things drop to the ground? Because of density, brother.
“You drop something and it falls down, well that’s real cute. What if you do it with a helium balloon? It floats up! Helium has mass, I thought gravity worked on mass. How come the helium doesn’t go down?”
Bryce Mitchell Faces a Tough Test at UFC Vegas 79
Bryce Mitchell steps into the co-main event spotlight as he meets Dan Ige in a battle of top 15 featherweights. Ahead of their clash inside the cage, ‘Thug Nasty’ suggested that he is the undisputed cash down of the 145-pound division and plans on proving that when he meets Ige.
Mitchell will be looking to get back into the win column after suffering a second-round submission loss against Ilia Topuria in December. Offsetting his lone loss inside the Octagon is five impressive wins against the likes of Charles Rosa, Andre Fili, and Edson Barboza since making his promotional debut.
Standing in his way of another W is Dan Ige, a featherweight fan favorite known for collecting $50,000 performance bonuses courtesy of his high-octane style of fighting. Ige snapped a three-fight losing skid in January, earning a second-round knockout against Damon Jackson. Ige added to his momentum in June via a unanimous decision victory over Nate Landwehr. He’ll try to make it three in a row against Mitchell inside The APEX.
