ONE Heavyweight Champion Brandon Vera Says He’d Love To Run It Back With Jon Jones

Jon Jones and Brandon Vera fought back in 2010. Vera was already an established household name at UFC light heavyweight division, and ‘Bones’ was just a new bee in the club.

“Bones” finished Vera with a nasty hell elbow to the eye from the top. ‘The Truth’ was visibly hurt, ate few more punches before Herb Dean stepped in and wave off the action. Vera suffered three facial fractures during the fight. Both men had up and down moments, but Jones controlled the majority of the bout.

After this victory, Jones continues his hype and Vera had one more fight afterward before being released from the promotion.

Currently, Vera 41, is a ONE Championship champ says if given a chance he’d love to take an opportunity to run it back at Jones again. (h/t Bloodyelbow)

“Man, you know, I would absolutely love to be able to have a match against Mr. Jones again,” Vera told BJPenn.com.

Brandon Vera, however, isn’t too optimistic that this fight would ever happen in ONE championship promotion.

“With all of this of his problems and troubles, I don’t think he’ll ever be at ONE Championship,” Vera said of Jones. “He’s not our type of material. He’s not martial artist material.

“But he would probably be the one, if I could get a do-over or a genie wish, that would be it.”

‘The Truth’ has a new home in ONE Championship where he fought four times in the last five years. He’ll look to become a double champ when he challenges ONE’s light heavyweight kingpin Aung La N Sang this October in Tokyo.
