Bobby Green is calling out all the lightweights who have avoided Islam Makhachev.

Fight fans were pleasantly surprised when Green quickly stepped up to replace an injured Beneil Dariush to fight Makhachev. Given the short notice, this will be a catchweight fight at 160 pounds. It’ll take place this Saturday night (Feb. 26) in the main event of UFC Vegas 49.

Bobby Green Puts Lightweights On Blast

During an appearance on The MMA Hour, Bobby Green told Ariel Helwani that he believes a slew of 155-pounders were offered the fight with Makhachev but turned it down.

“I know already, the top 10 guys — Hooker said it best. All those motherf*ckers got the call first. I guarantee you all those guys are p**sies. All those guys are f*cking p**sies. They wanna wait and pick their turns. ‘No, it’s not good enough. No, I need more time. No, I wanna fight somebody ahead of me but then I want it to be the right camp and I want it to be all the right situations.’

“All those guys play like this weird game. I feel like they hold their cards in and they wait for the right time to, ‘Ah, pull out my ace.’ Like no, sometimes you gotta jump on it and you just gotta take it the way it is. Now, I’m jumping over all you guys. Because why? You’re too p**sy to take the opportunity.”

Makhachev has a ton of hype surrounding him. Some have gone as far as to say it’s only a matter of time before he holds UFC gold. He’s also considered to be one of the most feared fighters at lightweight.

Don’t tell that to Green, however, who has been in the trenches since 2008. This will undoubtedly be the biggest fight of his pro MMA career and if he can win, he’ll be closer than he’s ever been to a UFC Lightweight Title shot.
