Michael Bisping doesn’t think Michael Chandler is an easy hurdle for Conor McGregor to clear whatsoever.

Bisping On McGregor vs. Chandler

The former two-division UFC Champion returns to action for the first time since July 2021, where he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. It’s been a lengthy layoff but McGregor’s road to recovery has finally paid off as he will step into the Octagon later this year.

For his comeback fight, McGregor has been pitted against no other than the always-exciting Chandler and will coaching opposite of him on ‘The Ultimate Fighter’… Bisping believes Chandler is no walk in the park for the Irishman, who could have chosen an easier matchup.

“This fight will be ridiculous. And I gotta say, there could have been a lot of easier matchups for McGregor to come back with,” Bisping said on his podcast. “Now obviously you could counter that by saying, well Chandler’s very hittable Chandler’s kind of  fight IQ and the desire to entertain, that’s gonna play into McGregor’s hands. Yeah, sure. Granted, fair enough. There’s still easier matchups.

“When I heard about the Tony Ferguson rumor, I thought, ‘oh, well that makes sense’. Tony’s lost five in a row. He’s with respect, damaged goods.”

‘It’s Not An Easy Fight To Come Back From’

Of course, the UFC would decide not to go the Tony Ferguson route and opted for Chandler instead.

“Michael Chandler is always in a war, always exciting,” Bisping continued. “He could choose to wrestle him. He took Dusty Poirier’s best shots, went to a decision [not true, it was a submission win for Poirier]. Took Gaethje’s best shots, went to a decision. So, it’s not an easy fight for McGregor.

“Certainly by the time it comes round, that’ll be like two and a half years outside of the Octagon when they’re already had been a diminishment of the skills, shall we say, timing, getting older, getting heavier, getting bigger, breaking a leg, losing the mojo. It’s not an easy fight to come back from.”

Do you agree with Michael Bisping’s assessment?
