Maria Henderson will follow in her husband’s footsteps.

The wife of former UFC lightweight king and Bellator star Benson Henderson, Maria Henderson is set to make her pro MMA debut at the upcoming LFA 135 event.

It takes place July 7 in Phoenix, Arizona, and will be streamed on UFC Fight Pass.

Her opponent will be fellow pro MMA debutant Melanie McIntyre in a women’s strawweight encounter.

Maria Henderson Previously Competed For Bellator

McIntyre went 3-2 as an amateur, but hasn’t competed since 2018.

Henderson also has some amateur experience as she went 3-0 with two submission victories along with a decision.

One of those submission wins most notably came at Bellator 268 where she competed on the same card as her husband. While she came out on top in her amateur outing, Henderson would get outpointed by Brent Primus on that night.

There are not many husband-wife duos in mixed martial arts as it’s certainly a rare sight. However, the Hendersons will be the newest additions and will be looking to have an equal amount of success along the way.

Here’s how the current LFA 135 card currently looks:

  • Alfonso Leyva vs. Daniel Reis
  • Felipe Bunes vs. Wascar Cruz
  • Lucas Clay vs. Austin Wourms
  • Allan Begosso vs. Paris Stanford
  • Jena Bishop vs. Luana Santos
  • Rafael do Nascimento vs. Marcus McGhee
  • Maria Henderson vs. Melanie McIntyre
