Bellator is unsurprisingly interested in snapping up the services of Nate Diaz.
Diaz recently became the hottest free agent in combat sports following his submission win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 earlier this month.
It was notably the last fight on his UFC deal.
Diaz has since spoken of conquering another sport — most likely boxing — but there’s always a chance he could test the market and remain in mixed martial arts.
Scott Coker: We Are Definitely Talking To Nate Diaz
Bellator president Scott Coker is certainly hoping that’s the case as he revealed in a recent media scrum that the promotion was already talking to Diaz over a potential a deal.
“Well, we are definitely talking to him,” Coker told BBC Sport. “We’ve reached out and I know he’s probably talking to everybody. He’s, I think, in a pretty good situation. I know he wants to fight Jake Paul. Jake Paul’s fighting, you know, against Anderson Silva on Showtime pay-per-view, which is our home network, so there’s some synergies here.
“We’re just hoping that we could have some type of deal to at least have his MMA fights with Bellator. We are in dialogue.”

Whether a deal can be struck remains to be seen.
However, Coker does have the advantage of having a relationship with the Diaz brothers from their days in Strikeforce.
It will certainly be interesting to see what transpires in the coming weeks.
