No. 4 welterweight contender Belal Muhammad has been waiting for the UFC to book his next fight. But as early as now, “Remember The Name” already confirmed he’ll have Khabib Nurmagomedov once again in his camp.

Back at it again

As most of us can remember, Muhammad was fortunate to have been trained by Nurmagomedov for his previous fight against Sean Brady at UFC 280. The 34-year-old even admitted that the pointers he took from the former lightweight champion indeed helped him secure the victory.

While having an Instagram Live session with fans, Muhammad confirmed that as soon as he gets the call from the UFC about his next fight, he’ll be headed to Dagestan and train with Nurmagomedov again.

“Yes, I do. I’m talking to him. We’ve had close calls with getting fights, so asking his opinion on them. Inshallah, we’ll be in Dagestan; get something soon once we get a fight going,” Muhammad revealed.

Always ready

Barring the No Contest against Leon Edwards due to an accidental eye poke in 2021, Muhammad has gone unbeaten in his eight trips to the Octagon. He certainly thinks he has earned his right to fight for the title but his time has yet to come. Nevertheless, “Remember The Name” ensures that he’s always ready for it. In fact, he even proposed to be a backup fighter for the upcoming trilogy bout between Edwards and Kamaru Usman at UFC 286.

Based on his resume, Muhammad appears to be worthy of a crack at the title. However, according to his manager and Dominance MMA founder Ali Abdelaziz, the UFC has already reached out to him about a fight but it wasn’t against the reigning champ. Instead, Abdelaziz said the promotion is planning to book Muhammad against Colby Covington, who currently sits at the No. 2 spot in the welterweight rankings.
