ONE Championship fan-favorite Aung La N Sang is backing Michael Chandler in his highly anticipated scrap with Conor McGregor later this year.
Chandler is expected to square off with McGregor once ‘The Notorious’ steps back into the Octagon following his appearance opposite the former Bellator MMA champion on season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter this summer. Speaking with Helen Yee on YouTube, Aung La shared his thoughts on the impending showdown and unsurprisingly, is backing his Kill Cliff FC teammate to come out on top in what could prove to be one of the biggest fights in UFC history.
“I gotta go with my boy,” Aung La said. “You can’t not go with your boy. You gotta go with your boy. I see [Chander] taking him down and smashing him or just beating him on the feet. I think he’s gonna be hungrier than Conor is. It’s gonna be a fun fight either way.”
‘The Burmese Python’ was also asked about McGregor’s status with USADA, specifically noting that the Irish superstar is yet to re-enter the testing pool for a required minimum of six months.

Aung La N Sang Comments on Conor McGregor’s USADA Debacle
“It is a little questionable, but when you have Conor kind of money, I don’t think it matters,” Aung La responded. “It’d be a fun fight. Conor’s been out of the game a little while. Stylistically I like it and Chandler’s one of those guys that are super explosive and can close the distance really fast so I see it being a good fight for Chandler. As far as Conor’s antics, it’s not going to play a factor. I don’t think it’s going to play a factor at all.”
McGregor has been in a continuous back-and-forth battle with USADA regarding his eligibility to compete. You can read all about that here.
There is currently no concrete date for when fans can expect to see McGregor vs. Chandler, but Aung La N Sang will be back in the ONE Circle on May 5 when the Asia-based promotion makes its long-awaited U.S. debut. ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video will feature the Myanmar superstar seeking his third straight victory after scoring back-to-back knockouts against Japanese legend Yushin Okami and Brazilian grappler Gilberto Galvao.
ONE Championship’s U.S. debut will be headlined by a ONE flyweight world championship trilogy bout as current titleholder Demetrious Johnson once again meets three-time flyweight champion, Adriano Moraes.
