A featherweight showdown between Artem Lobov and entertaining Alex Caceres confirmed for UFC 223 in Brooklyn on Saturday, 7 April.
The earliest reports of this fight came from The Mac Life. Later MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani confirmed the news as well.
Lobov who is widely known for being teammates with Conor McGregor lost his last two bouts — both via decision against Cub Swanson and then Team Alpha Male staple Andre Fili. To remind you, McGregor is no stranger to post-fight controversy, particularly in fights that are not his own. Mcgregor tried to corner teammate Artem Lobov at UFC Fight Night 118, and chaos happens afterward.
The Russian Hammer’, who trains under the stewardship of John Kavanagh in SBG Ireland, will be looking to record his third victory under the UFC banner.
However, Caceres is also under pressure to pick up a win; last fought at the UFC’s debut event in Shanghai, China last November against Wang Guan. Caceres lost the fight via split decision.
As a team-mate of Conor McGregor, Lobov’s addition to the UFC 223 card could influence McGregor into being present in Brooklyn on a night, where lightweight title fight between UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson and undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov is also headlined the UFC 223.
The co-main event features a strawweight championship rematch between Rose Namajunas and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
