No. 8 lightweight contender Arman Tsarukyan put on quite an impressive performance as he TKO’d Joaquim Silva at UFC Vegas 75. With back-to-back wins to his name, “Ahalkalakets” wants to make sure that he’s getting either a top-5 fighter or specifically, Michael Chandler.
It’s a Fight that fans Want to See
Speaking to reporters in his post-fight press conference, Tsarukyan said he would gladly welcome a fight with Beneil Dariush in Abu Dhabi but if he is to hand-pick an opponent, he’d go with Chandler, who is likely to face Conor McGregor in the season finale of The Ultimate Fighter 31, because it’s a fight the fans would love to see.
“If [Beneil] Dariush can fight in Abu Dhabi in October, definitely I want to fight with him if not, you know me I’m gonna fight with everybody but everybody from like top five whatever,” Tsarukyan said. “If you wanna ask me, for sure, I want to fight with Michael Chander because it looks like his fight with Conor McGregor is over and he got to fight with someone, and I’m here, you know. I have a good win streak. Let’s do it. Let’s do this fight because I’m the youngest guy in the top 15, and he’s the older one. I think for fans it is good- like the new generation fight with the old generation.”
Conor will never Show Up
The way Tsarukyan sees it, a McGregor vs. Chandler showdown is never gonna happen as “Notorious” doesn’t look like he is committed to fighting.
“Because I saw what McGregor is doing,” Tsarukyan said when quizzed about why he thinks McGregor vs. Chandler is not happening. “He’s like relaxing on his yacht. You know, like drink alcohol, he goes to the beach and like smoke weed. But like trains like a crazy guy… I think he’s not gonna fight.”
UFC president Dana White previously admitted that nothing is official yet about the proposed McGregor vs. Chandler TUF 31 season finale showdown but “anything is possible.” On the other hand, Dariush had just ended his eight-fin winning streak when he lost to Charles Oliveira at UFC 289 and has not provided an exact timeframe for his next possible fight.
