Ariel Helwani believes Conor McGregor has to headline UFC 300.

With UFC 300 set for April of next year, the anticipation of who will headline the card and who will be on it is there. Most UFC fighters are hoping to be part of the historic card, but Helwani thinks only one person can be the main event of the card.

Although UFC 300 will be a massive event regardless of who headlines it, Ariel Helwani believes Conor McGregor has to be in the main event against whoever.

“Well, there’s one name at the top that’s a shoo-in for 300 in my opinion. It’s gotta be (Conor)… I’ve heard since that plans are changing. Sometimes I feel like the UFC because Conor is such a big deal they try and find the perfect scenario where they try to make him fight in,” O’Malley said on Sean O’Malley’s podcast. “I can understand from a business standpoint why you wouldn’t want to put him on 300 because 300 is going to sell itself because of the patentry of the number.

“So, maybe you put him on 301, you get two bites of that million buy apple. To me, come on man, Conor is ready to go, who knows how many fights he has left in him, he’s foaming at the mouth, he’s almost begging for a fight, put him on that damn card,” Helwani continued.

As of right now, Conor McGregor’s return hasn’t been booked, but Ariel Helwani thinks the UFC would be dumb to not have the Irishman headline UFC 300.

Ariel Helwanis wants to see Dillon Danis on UFC 300

Along with Conor McGregor headlining UFC 300, Ariel Helwani thinks the promotion should sign the Irishman’s teammate Dillon Danis to have his debut on the card.

“If I’m the UFC I would sign him. Put him on the opener, whatever, put him on 300, put him with Conor, keep that story going,” Helwani added.

Helwani believes any welterweight would jump at the chance to take the fight, and having Danis on the same card as McGregor would only add to the hype of the event.

Currently, no fights have been booked for UFC 300.
