Lorenz Larkin Scores A Razor-Close Split Decision Win After Three Rounds Against Andrey Koreshkov!

Bellator 229 takes place live now (Friday, October 4, 2019) from inside the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, California.

It is headlined by an intriguing welterweight affair between the former 170-pound champion Andrey Koreshkov and the former MEZ Sports Light Heavyweight king Lorenz “The Monsoon” Larkin. The two were scheduled to meet at Bellator 220 in March of this year, but Larkin withdrew from the bout citing injury.

Koreshkov wears blue/white trunks and red gloves, while Larkin sports blue gloves and red trunks tonight. The ref in charge of this contest is Mike Beltran. The main event of the evening kicks off!

Round 1

Fighters touch gloves. Koreshkov delivers a leg kick, Larkin fires back with a leg kick and aims to the body. Koreshkov clinches up, Larkin nearly secured a takedown. Larkin on the fence, fighters trade knees.

Beltran wants more action. Koreshkov lands a devastating right punch, and now he works on a jab. Spinning head kick by Koreshkov and Larkin is rocked!!!

Larkin delivers a strong left, which denies Koreshkov’s attack. Flying knee, the fighters separate after some time spent against the cage. Leg kick Larkin, Koreshkov fires back. Spinning kick miss Koreshkov, spinning backfist lands for Larkin. Right hand to the body, and now both fighters trade high kicks. Tough round, maybe 10-9 Koreshkov due to a knockdown.

Round 2

Larkin’s high kick is checked. Body kick, and now Koreshkov throws a spinning kick but Larkin is trying hard to keep the bout standing.

Fighters trade shots on the fence. Knees on both sides, Koreshkov changes levels. Beltran wants more action, and the fighters separate. Right hand and a leg kick, great combo.

The flurry of punches Larkin, Koreshkov evades and delivers a big strike to the body. An overhand right to the body blocked. Great hook to the body. Elbow to the head and spinning backfist by Andrey Koreshkov.

Larkin misses with an uppercut, high kick Koreshkov. Jumping knee lands for Larkin, he hurts Koreshkov and continues landing big shots off the top. Andrey got back on his feet but he was dropped a few seconds later with a big knee. More right hands. Wow, awesome round for Larkin, maybe even 10-8.

Round 3

Koreshkov kicks off aggressively, but Larkin accepts the game. Good left hand, Larkin threatens with a kick, Andrey shoots in, Larkin traps his head, he looks for a guillotine.

But Koreshkov saved his head, he is in the full guard. Larkin slowly trying to get up, inching his way up on one knee. Larkin throws reverse elbows, Beltran wants to see more action.

Single-leg Koreshkov, Larkin grabbed the cage and stopped the takedown attempt. Koreshkov scored a takedown, Larkin is warned not to do that again. Larkin back on his feet, elbows to the head, but Andrey takes him down again. This is round for Koreshkov, 10-9.

Final Result: 29-28 Larkin, 29-28 Koreshkov, 29-28 for Larkin, split decision win for Lorenz Larkin
