- Alex Pereira wants Anthony Smith to know that he is serious about his $50K grappling match challenge
- “Poatan” said he would use the money to help poor people
Alex Pereira is reminding Anthony Smith about the $50K grappling match challenge and explained why it has to be done sooner rather than later.
Alex plans to use the money for the needy
In a message on his Instagram story now circulating on X, “Poatan” publicly reiterated that he is serious about the bet. Pereira even revealed that should he win, he plans to use the $50K to feed the needy. That said, the reigning light heavyweight champion hopes to get a firm answer from “Lionheart” as soon as possible.
“Someone tell [Anthony Smith] that the bet is real, I’m not talking about fighting at an event because I don’t need to promote myself! I’m talking about booking in a gym and the bet would be there because if you wait to fight me at an event it would probably be difficult to happen.
I was out of action for a month because I broke both of my toes, so I only need a month for me [to] recover some of my cardio.
He said he would use this money to buy the stupidest thing, I would do it differently, I would buy food for people in need to lessen their pain,” Pereira said.

Anthony has said yes
As far as Smith is concerned, he already accepted Pereira’s challenge. In fact, “Lionheart” was even confident that he would definitely tap “Poatan” if he keeps his word and give up his back as the beginning position of the said grappling match challenge. Moreover, Smith also pointed out that he would let Pereira pick any martial art he wants besides grappling.
With Pereira appears to be eager to make the challenge happen, and Smith seemingly accepting it as well, it wouldn’t be a shock if the pair suddenly meet up in a certain gym and finally settle it.
