Before this fight, there was a rumor going around that Josh Thomson’s training camp wasn’t on par. In fact, Josh admitted that training for his JZ Cavalcante fight was the worst he had in recent memory. Well the joke’s on you. You’ve all been trolled. Josh Thomson created all of that stuff to play an elaborate trick on the media. If you don’t believe me, ask The Punk about it. He’ll come clean.
Now that Josh Thomson grabbed the unanimous decision over JZ Cavalcante, we can hypothetically match-up Thomson with a slew of 155lbers besides the blatantly obvious: Gilbert Melendez.
Of course, Mitsuhiro Ishida comes to mind when anyone is trying to name future opponents for Thomson. In fact, before Antonio McKee moved to the UFC, I would have loved to see Ishida try to out-wrestle The Punk. Josh Thomson was on the Stanford wrestling team, but he won’t discuss his time at Stanford with anyone. He’ll just tell you to go to the next question. I’ve tried it, he’s like an impenetrable wall of misinformation — and that’s why you should love him.
