Jose Aldo is MMA royalty, but he’s been dabbling into the sweet science as of late.

His most recent boxing match took place this past weekend. Aldo went one-on-one with Esteban Gabriel Espindola inside the Upper Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the Shooto Boxing 2 event. This one was all Aldo and at one point, he landed a beautiful uppercut that forced Espindola to tie up. Ultimately, Espindola survived to the final bell, but it was Aldo who took the unanimous decision victory.

Aldo is now 2-0-1 in three pro boxing matches. He was coming off a controversial draw against Jeremy Stephens back in April in their boxing clash

UFC Hall of Fame Induction

Aldo can now relax for a moment as he will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on July 6. He will join the likes of fellow Brazilian legend Anderson Silva, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, and Jens Pulver. Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald will also get their flowers as part of the Fight Wing section of the UFC Hall of Fame.

MMA fans are well aware of Aldo’s dominant run in the featherweight division. He dominated under the Zuffa umbrella for several years, winning championship gold in World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) and the UFC. Even towards the end of his MMA run, Aldo was competitive. He long expressed interest in boxing, however, and has jumped at the chance to compete in the sport before it was too late.

Aldo’s induction will be a part of UFC’s International Fight Week. The special themed week ends with UFC 290, which will be held inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 8. Alexander Volkanovski and Yair Rodriguez will compete for the undisputed UFC Featherweight Championship.
