Just when everybody thought everything is cool between former UFC rivals Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor, one tweet appears to have reignited their feud. Following Aldo’s pro boxing debut this Saturday, “The Notorious” expressed his interest in taking on the Brazilian inside the ring.
It didn’t take long for Aldo to make his response.
McGregor fancies a boxing match with Aldo
Aldo was disappointed with the results of his pro boxing debut against Jeremy Stephens after judges declared it a majority draw. While speaking to reporters in his post-fight presser the former UFC featherweight champion was quizzed for comments regarding McGregor’s tweet, stating he thinks he should be boxing Aldo.
“Me and Aldo should box,” McGregor tweeted.

Conor is past tense now
Contrary to what many expected, Aldo refused to entertain McGregor’s tease. On the contrary, the Brazilian delivered a swift and decisive counter-attack, highlighting that “The Notorious” was presented with an opportunity in the past but evaded it. As of the present, Aldo’s inclination towards the matter has significantly diminished.
“Conor (has a) big mouth. He always talks a lot of sh*t. He has a scheduled fight. … Conor, shut your f*cking mouth. We were supposed to fight before in the UFC. You run, and now you still talk sh*t,” Aldo exclaimed.
Aldo and McGregor’s rivalry dates back to 2015 after the Irish MMA superstar knocked the then-featherweight champion in 13 seconds. Aldo was yearning for a rematch but McGregor chose to move up to lightweight and became a two-division champion.
In 2019, Aldo dropped down to bantamweight and went 3-3. After losing to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 278, Aldo called it quits with a pro MMA record of 31-8.
On the other hand, McGregor is set to make his long-awaited UFC return as he takes on his rival coach Michael Chandler in the season finale of The Ultimate Fighter Season 31.
