American Kickboxing Academy coach Javier Mendez has shared his thoughts on Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou.
Those claiming Ngannou fumbled the bag were silenced when it was announced that he’d be meeting WBC Heavyweight Champion Fury in a lucrative boxing match in Saudi Arabia on October 28. The conversation now becomes Ngannou’s low chances of defeating Fury, which was to be expected given the significant gap in boxing experience.

Javier Mendez Talks Francis Ngannou Nabbing Tyson Fury Fight
During an episode of the “Javier Mendez Podcast,” Mendez discussed Ngannou’s massive fight with Fury and why he’s happy for the former UFC Heavyweight Champion.
“I’m very happy for Francis,” Mendez said. “He’s gonna get a huge payday, more than he’s ever gotten because in boxing, when you’re the headliner you’re the lion. So, Fury and Francis are the lions in this case. The promoters are not the lions. They are the second shareholders, if you want to say it that way. They make the second most money, but the most money goes to the fighters. First, Tyson, then Ngannou, and then the promotion makes their money from there. So, I’m very happy for him because I don’t think he will ever make that kind of money again.”
Mendez admitted it’s hard for him to envision Ngannou pulling off the upset over Fury. The AKA coach believes that perhaps “The Predator’s” best chance is to catch “The Gypsy King” early.
“I see Ngannou giving it his best,” Mendez said. “Just like any other guy, I don’t see it happening. It’s not like Tyson is washed up. He’s in his prime. If anybody’s on the tail end it’s Ngannou, not Tyson.”
Ngannou parted ways with the UFC earlier this year. The two sides failed to come to terms on a new deal while Ngannou was the UFC Heavyweight Champion. The former UFC heavyweight kingpin ended up signing with PFL. The fallout has led to some barbs traded between “The Predator” and UFC President Dana White.
