  • Francis Ngannou is certain he could knock Anthony Joshua out once he lands a clean shot
  • AJ feels the same way and is eager to prove that he is better than “The Predator”

Francis Ngannou and Anthony Joshua traded some barbs ahead of their highly-anticipated boxing match.

Francis just needs to land it

Speaking to Sky Sports, “The Predator” spoke with confidence as he guaranteed that he could knock Joshua out. However, Ngannou admitted that what he needs to figure out is how to perfectly land it.

“Of course! [I can knock Joshua out] I believe if I land on anyone, I will knock them out,” Ngannou said. “Now, the question is, how to land? That’s the hardest thing. Almost everybody in this division can knock everybody out, but how do you land or carry that power and energy from first round to fifth round to 10 rounds and still hit someone hard or knock somebody out after all the fatigue? It’s a chess game.”

AJ hit back

An hour later, Joshua talked to the same outlet and was asked the same thing. For AJ, it only gives him more motivation to prove that he is the better fighter. As for the knockout, Joshua is already excited about flattening out Ngannou and “make a statement.”

“This is the thing, I’m quite optimistic and I’m like brilliant. I want that. I want someone in front of me who thinks they can knock me out. But let’s see how good they really are. I want to be right in front of them, making it difficult as hell for them to achieve their goal and see how much they really want it,” Joshua said.

“On March the 8th, it’s going to go down, so I can’t wait for the opportunity to show my skills and combat this person who thinks he can knock me out… I believe I can knock him out. Definitely. I would love to knock him out and make a statement,” he added.

Ngannou and Joshua are now both in Riyadh as they gear up for their much-awaited showdown this weekend. AJ is coming in off a sensational three-fight winning streak last year. On the other hand, Ngannou will try and prove that he could beat a high-level boxer following a decision loss to Tyson Fury.
