Dana White: Conor McGregor Yearning To Fight Floyd Mayweather Again

Conor Mcgregor wants to fight Floyd Mayweather again really bad.

Its been over four months since UFC lightweight champ Conor McGregor debuted in a multi-million boxing match against Floyd Mayweather which he eventually lost via 10th round TKO.

McGregor has a lot of options to choose from for his next blockbuster fight, and UFC brass Dana White wants him to return to the Octagon, where he’s the sport’s biggest star, but noted he really wants is a rematch with pugilist Floyd Mayweather.

“Conor wants that fight again really bad,” White recently said to FS1 (transcription via MMA Weekly). “I told Conor what you did was amazing. I was sitting there with my partner Lorenzo [Fertitta] and I kept saying, ‘Oh my god, we found this kid in Ireland four years ago. He’s going into the sixth round with Floyd Mayweather. He’s going into the seventh round with Floyd Mayweather.’

“He did extremely well, but Conor was not happy with his performance and obviously Conor, truly he believed he was going to win that fight.”

White further said on his scorecard he had McGregor winning four rounds, which was far more than any boxing scholar had even considered as being a possibility.

“You’ve got to understand, I did every show on Earth leading up to that fight and every boxing expert on the planet told me that he would not hit Floyd Mayweather one time. So I’m not going to lie to you, there was a little ‘oh my god,’ I at least wanted people to turn off their TV’s and at least felt like it was a good fight and it was a good fight.”

“I know deep down he would do that fight again, but he needs to get back to MMA and defend his title.”

White recently said that he’s looking for Conor McGregor to make his UFC return in the coming summer, and respectively against interim champion Tony Ferguson, who is currently sidelined after elbow surgery.
