MMA legend Alistair Overeem has a prediction for the Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou fight that is sure to turn some heads.
Fury, the WBC heavyweight champion, will collide with Ngannou, a former UFC heavyweight champion, in a boxing match on October 28. The WBC gold will not be at stake. Fury is a massive -2000 betting favorite over the +1040 underdog Ngannou, per FanDuel.
Alistair Overeem Makes Shocking Prediction For Fury vs. Ngannou
During an appearance on “The MMA Hour,” Alistair Overeen told Ariel Helwani that he’s picking Francis Ngannou to score a massive upset win over Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia.
“Not only a chance, I believe he’s going to win,” Overeem said. “I look at fights a little bit different, right? Of course, being in the game for 30 years. … I think Ngannou is going to surprise the world, shock the world. Listen, also because people underestimate UFC fighters, they do. Let’s call them MMA fighters. There’s a lot of the details that are in here and boxing is basically one-dimensional to us. Yes, Tyson is the best. Yes, yes, yes, but Francis is a big dude, very big dude, very strong.”
Overeem went on to predict that the fight will end in devastating fashion.
“It’s going to be a brutal force KO,” Overeem said.
Ngannou is certainly lacking the boxing experience that Fury has. With that said, the one-punch knockout power of “The Predator” is always a threat. Fury has insisted that he isn’t looking past Ngannou, despite the fact that “The Gypsy King’s” promoters announced plans for an Oleksandr Usyk fight just weeks prior to the Francis bout.
If things go the way Overeem is predicting, it is sure to send the boxing world into a frenzy. Fight fans won’t have to wait long to see if Francis Ngannou can pull off the upset.
