Dana White Claims Khabib’s UFC 229 Brawl Might Have Serious Consequences Depending On NSAC Decision
Conor McGregor didn’t fight since UFC 205 and victory over Eddie Alvarez in November 2016. UFC Lightweight division looked more like a circus until UFC 223 on April 7, 2018. Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Al Iaquinta in the final and earned the title. Yet, Conor’s hooligan bus attack ruined the whole event. Ray Borg and Michael Chiesa were pulled out of the fight card due to lacerations. Yet, Dana White didn’t do much to teach The Notorious a lesson.
After months of provocations, Khabib’s anger has finally reached critical levels. Conor was insulting him at the press conference. Mentioning God, Dagestan, Chechnya was a low blow. Khabib snapped. It all led to UFC 229 post-fight incident. Khabib Nurmagomedov jumped over the fence. He started fighting Conor’s jiu-jitsu coach Dillon Danis. It quickly turned into a riot which continued even inside the octagon!
Dana White claimed he was disgusted by Khabib’s behavior after UFC 229 main event. Khabib’s bully squad was probably enough of Conor’s barking. Dana White mentioned there is even a chance that Khabib Nurmagomedov gets a title stripe. It all depends on NSAC (Nevada State Athletic Commission) decision. (via MMAMania.com)
“The Nevada State Athletic Commission is going to hand out some sort of fine or suspension and after that we’ll see,” White said after the fight (transcribed by Forbes). “If he gets suspended, it depends on how long his suspension is and yeah, he’s probably going to get stripped if it’s a long suspension.”
During UFC 229 post-fight conference, The Eagle apologized for his behavior. But he can’t forgive the promotion and media for rising trash-talkers like Conor McGregor. The Notorious was attacking his country, religion, family. The Eagle also said that Conor’s UFC 223 incident was swiftly forgotten. He didn’t even get a suspension!
If Khabib Nurmagomedov gets a title stripe, Tony Ferguson might be promoted to the UFC Interim Lightweight champion. El Cucuy defeated Showtime in one of the best matches ever. Unfortunately, Showtime had to pull out due to a broken hand at the end of the second round.
