Thiago Silva unleashing his rage the UFC Octagon is a thing of violent beauty. This guy would be one of Brazil’s top contributions to the Spartan Program if such a thing existed. Throw some body armor on him and he’s good to go. Let’s face it: Thiago was literally born to hurt people and things in the proper context. Rumor has it he emerged from his mother’s womb with a fist, then when the doctor pulled him out Thiago instinctively went to the gable grip.
UFC: Macao was entertaining enough, there was just a massive shortage of finishes. Seven decisions in a row started the show in fact, and things were starting to look all UFC 33 for a while until Thiago Silva and Stanislav Nedkov entered the Octagon. Both dudes threw leather with abandon that was reckless, then Nedkov decided to use some of his Bulgarian wrestling to slow the fight down for a while. Both fighters started acting like the fight was being judged on knees to the thigh until the round ended. More exchanges, then in round three, Silva turns the dial to ‘pain,’ and blasts Nedkov with a shot that sends him walking away like he was ready to leave the cage in the middle of the fight. Both fighters are tired, but eventually Silva hops on top of Nedkov and sinks in the arm triangle for the Sub of the Night. Done and done.
