- Ciryl Gane said it will be a “perfect day” if he manages to submit Jon Jones in the first round
- “Bon Gamin” remains unfazed even if “Bones” thinks he’s not as good as Francis Ngannou and Stipe Miocic
UFC 285 is a big fight but Ciryl Gane is not feeling pressured. In fact, he is all smiles heading into the match and said that it will be a much better day if he gets to submit Jon Jones in the first round.
Ciryl is looking for a perfect day
Speaking to Sky Sports, Gane described his idea of a “perfect day” on Saturday at UFC 285. As expected, “Bon Gamin” said it would be taking Jones to the ground and tapping him as soon as possible.
“The perfect day is I’m gonna do some take down on Jon Jones, I’m gonna submit him in the first round,” Gane said.
Jon’s the GOAT but that doesn’t mean Gane is nothing
Gane is the No. 1 UFC heavyweight contender but there’s a notion that says “Bones” doesn’t see him up there on the same footing as Francis Ngannou and Stipe Miocic. For “Bon Gamin,” it maybe the former light heavyweight champion’s way to boost his confidence but to him, he doesn’t need to hear what people say.
The Frenchman said he knows that even though Jones is the GOAT, he is competing for the title for a reason.
“He’s a GOAT so he likes [to] disrespect his opponent so this is his mindset. Maybe this is helping him to be more confident. I don’t know, me? I don’t need that I’m just aware about everything around me and I know he’s a really great fighter maybe not like before but he’s still a really great fighter. He’s new on this division, this is new for him, but he’s still a real great fighter and we know that… Today he is the GOAT but today I’m here and it’s not for nothing, this is something,” Gane explained.
UFC 285 will be Gane’s second shot at the title but it will be his first against a technical fighter like Jones. On the other hand, Jones will have a chance to become the new heavyweight champion in his long-awaited UFC return and heavyweight debut.
