- Floyd Mayweather uploaded the full uncut video of Gervonta Davis vs. Devin Haney sparring match
- The sparring happened at Mayweather Boxing Gym six years ago
Floyd Mayweather Jr. delighted boxing fans by uploading the full video of Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney’s epic sparring match six years ago.
A sparring war
Shortly after Davis defended his WBA lightweight title by knocking out Frank Martin, Mayweather decided to release the full version of “Tank’s” six-round, “dog house” rules sparring match with Haney.
The 18-minute sparring war took place at Mayweather Boxing Gym with “Money” himself served as one of the unofficial referees. Haney was only 19 years old at the time, while “Tank” was about 23.
Both boxers did not fail to deliver but despite being the younger fighter, Haney appeared to have gotten the better of Davis in the match. As expected, the aggressive “Tank” found success in the early rounds but Haney bounced back and outperformed Davis en route to the final bell.
The term “Dog House” rules means the fight will not stop until one of the fighters surrender but unsparingly, neither Davis nor Haney quitted.

Why did Floyd upload it?
While the video was undeniably entertaining, some fans wonder why Mayweather suddenly decided to make it available for public consumption. One narrative suggests that “Money” may have figured it would make “Tank” look bad in the eyes of boxing fans given he and Davis are no longer on good terms at this point.
The only thing certain at the moment is that Davis and Haney have yet to face each other inside the ring. As it stands, “Tank” remains unbeaten following his KO win over Martin. He now has a 30-0 pro record with 28 wins coming by way of knockout. On the other hand, Haney suffered an upset loss to Ryan Garcia but is still the WBC Super lightweight champion.
