Desmond Green Facing Numerous Charges In Relation To Fatal Car Accident UFC Lightweight Desmond Green has been arrested, following a fatal motor vehicle accident from August of last year. Among these charges, is two counts of DUI manslaughter. According to a report from the Sun Sentinel, Green was being held Wednesday on a bond of $194,000. He was arrested, facing twenty charges after a five car accident on I-75. The accident took place last August. This resulted in the death of two people; Emelina Morfa (67), and Emma Suarez Hernandez (76). According to this report, Green was driving his 2011 Dodge Durango. He then veered into the path of a tractor trailer. This resulted in a chain reaction, ending in a collision with a total of five vehicles. An off duty police officer stopped to assist on the scene. According to witnesses, Green was seen throwing a metal object away from the scene. This was determined to be a grinder with weed residue. Additionally, a bag was discovered which contained a white powder, later tested to be cocaine. The police report also states that Green appeared to be impaired, with a smell of alcohol. Subsequently, a toxicology report came back positive for alcohol and drugs. Green also was driving without a seat belt, with a suspended license. These charges hold a minimum sentence of over ten years in prison. However, if convicted, Desmond Green could face an additional 15 year of prison, 15 years probation. There could also be a $10,000 fine, and the permanent deferral of his driver's license. Desmond Green competed three times after the incident, trading one loss with two wins. His most recent bout was in May. Additionally, he holds a professional record of 23-8. The UFC has yet to offer comment.
