The world’s strongest beer was just created, and it tastes absolutely horrible

Finally, we can use this new ‘Science’ tab on MiddleEasy to talk about something that actually matters on a Friday night. For some of you it actually matters on Friday morning as well.

Scottish company ‘Brewmeister’ has just developed the world’s strongest beer with an astronomically high 67% ABV. In comparison, most hard liquor like vodka, whiskey, rum and tequila average about a 40% ABV and beers like Bud Light is just a measly 4.2% ABV. Here’s an excerpt from the official Brewmeister website about their new creation.

Snake Venom is not designed to mask the taste of the alcohol. The alcohol is very strong but the beer still tastes like a beer rather than a spirit. It’s hoppy, malty and very pleasant.

Snake Venom is so strong that we have put a warning label on the neck of the bottle warning drinkers to beware.

To get the correct ABV each batch is tested in the brewery with random batches being checked by external labs.

If you want to buy some ‘Snake Venom,’ each 275ml bottle will set you back £50, which is about $80.50 a pop. Add another £13.99 for shipping and you’re looking at over $100 just to drink the strongest (and perhaps nastiest beer) in the existence of humankind.
