A former Olympic silver medalist, Romero (13-3) is coming off a decision loss to champion Robert Whittaker at UFC 225, but Romero was ineligible to win the title because he missed weight for the second straight time in a title bout. Before that he missed weight against Luke Rockhold at UFC 221, only Rockhold eligible to win the interim title, not Romero however, Cuban won via third round knock. He holds the notable wins over the likes of Lyoto Machida, Chris Weidman, and Luke Rockhold.
Not long ago, Romero revealed he’ll move up to 205-pound after failed to make 185 twice and called out Daniel Cormier to defend his light heavyweight title against him, but Cormier turned it down.
Costa improved his professional record to 12-0 with 12 finishes by defeating Uriah Hall at the UFC 226 pay-per-view (PPV) event earlier this month. After the victory, Brazilian called out Chris Weidman. Now Weidman is booked to face Luke Rockhold in the same card.
UFC 230 is set to take place on Nov. 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The main card will airs on pay-per-view (PPV) following prelims on Fox Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
