YES! YES! Alright, that’s my Diego Sanchez for today. Stay tuned tomorrow while I do my best impression of Vladimir Matyushenko and clean my bathroom. Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers has just elevated from awesome to rawesome. Not your usual type of rawesome either. The type of rawesome only Roxanne Modaferri can bring to a card. When I first heard the news (props to PerformanceMMA) I spent the next 10 minutes jumping on my desk…then the desk broke. Now I have a broken desk sitting in the middle of my room and all I have to show for it is this announcement that Roxanne Modafferi vs. Marloes Coenen is confirmed for Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers on November 7th!
This card has went through more changes than a [insert Michael Schiavelloism here]. Originally, the bout was scheduled to be Cris Cyborg’s first title defense against Marloes Coenen. Cyborg caught an injury, had to drop out and Erin Toughill stepped up. Due to an undisclosed illness, Erin Toughill had to back out of the fight tonight which left Marloes Coenen stuck on a card with an imaginary ‘To be announced’ opponent. Last night, Roxy tweeted that she received a phone call at 3am with one of those ’emoticons’ that all of the cool kids are using these days. Now we have confirmation that Roxanne will be facing Marloes and we interviewed both of them. You can check out Roxanne Modaferri’s interview here and Marloes Coenen right here. Women’s MMA ftw.
