Wiz Khalifa is ready to make some waves in the jiu-jitsu scene.

Khalifa Set For BJJ Debut

After many years in the music industry as well as many hit songs such as ‘See You Again’ and ‘Black and Yellow’, the famous rapper will be taking on a new stage. Khalifa is set to hit the mats in his jiu-jitsu debut.

Khalifa’s first jiu-jitsu match will be under the ‘High Rollerz’ banner, with a date and location yet to be decided. The promotion would reveal several details regarding Khalifa’s debut, citing it will be a Gi match with 6-minute rounds under their ruleset.

Khalifa On His Jiu-Jitsu Journey

Despite Khalifa being a rapper, he is no stranger to fighting. The 35 year-old first started training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu back in 2017 under the tutelage of Rigan Machado.

“I’ve been training [jiu-jitsu] for like five years now,” Khalifa said on Impaulsive (h/t: SportsKeeda) “I don’t know, I f*ck with it, it’s just fun. It’s cool to learn new sh*t. I think the older you get, you just get into different things like your body just tells you what’s cool and what’s not cool.”

Of course, Khalifa’s combat sports journey wouldn’t stop at grappling as the rapper also picked up striking (muay thai) along the way.

“I started lifting, and I went to Unbreakable with Jay Glazer and just naturally they just put me on this program. I’m kind of just open for whatever. Jiu-jitsu, wrestling, striking, it’s whatever, if you want to teach me some sh*t, I’m down to learn.”

We’ll see if Wiz Khalifa is willing to step into the ring too after he makes his BJJ debut later this year.
