What happens when TUF meets Survivor? ‘Warrior Island’ might be the coolest combat reality show yet

There are reality shows for everything; even a multi-season series following meter maids as they issue tickets for parking violations. Ever since MTV’s “The Real World” debuted in 1992, people became more fascinated with unscripted television than actors pretending to live mundane lives. 20 years later, reality television has evolved and characters need to be as weird a possible to captivate an audience. Enter Honey Boo Boo, and that should give you a great idea of what it takes to keep America enthralled. Unfortunately for MMA fans, the past few seasons of TUF have been struggling for ratings. Even M-1 Global and NBC’s attempts MMA reality shows went more-or-less entirely un-noticed. Perhaps it’s time to take things to the next level. We don’t know much about Warrior Island besides that it starts filming in February of 2013 and that their first official trailer insures we’ll be watching. After all, Dan Severn is running up a beach leaving tiki-torches in his dust, so it has to be good.
