UFC no longer requires The Headhunter’s services

Update: Apparently Paul Buentello has not been cut by the UFC. Naughty 5oz of Pain. Very naughty.

If I were that guy from Quantum Leap, the last place I would want to transport to was the body of Kirill ‘Baby Fedor’ Sidelnikov on January 24th 2009. It was like the government closed down three-mile island and authorized Sidelnikov’s face to be an atomic bomb testing site. To Kirill’s credit, dude did not go down a single time after withstanding the onslaught of Paul Buentello’s typhoon of straight jabs and right hooks. The dude is named ‘The Headhunter’ for a reason. He launched shots that would have easily paralyzed the normal human being, but anyone that trains with Fedor doesn’t exactly have the same genetic code as all of us. Just after that fight, ‘Baby Fedor’ tested positive for anabolic steroids and he’s still serving his suspension which lasts until sometime this year. Bummer.

After Affliction’s collapse, Buentello was dropped off his fight with Gilbert ‘The Spleen Eater’ Yvel and officially unemployed. The UFC decided to snatch him up late last year and scheduled the mother of all bangemite fests: Todd Duffee vs. Paul Buentello. Both dudes exchanged words on The UG and the hype infected everyone like some inner-thigh rash. On November 3rd, Todd Duffee was forced to drop out of his bout with Buentello due to some undisclosed illness. Struve stepped up (even higher) to take the fight with Buentello on short notice. After three brutal rounds, Paul lost a majority decision and then moved to some remote area in California to isolate himself from society. His next bout was against Cheick Kongo, a fight that every fanboy called when Buentello signed with the UFC. Unfortunately, The Headhunter was leg-hunted by Cheick Kongo and tapped due to strikes on the thigh. Now it looks like ZUFFA has had enough of Paul Buentello’s 0-2 stint in the UFC and late last night, 5ozs of Pain broke the news that Paul Buentello has been released from the UFC. Damn. [Source]
