Tyrone Spong just announced he is making his MMA debut and already has two fights lined up before the end of 2012

Just last week we showed you a clip of Tyrone Spong on Inside MMA announcing to the world he would be making his MMA debut this November for Titan FC. On the show he is asked specifically will he be making his debut with WSOF (World Series of Fighting) and the tape mysteriously cuts out and then cuts back to a clip of Spong saying only that he will be making his debut with Titan FC. Here’s where things get a little interesting. Now it’s being reported that Spong is also fighting for WSOF. So that sounds as though Spong already has two fights lined up before the end of the year and he has just announced his official transition over to MMA. Wow.

This Saturday WSOF head man in charge-Ray Sefo told MMA Fight Corner that Spong would in fact be fighting for WSOF. When asked about a rumor that Spong would be joining the organization, Sefo stated:

“That is very true.”

He also went on to say he wasn’t positive who Spong’s opponent would be just yet but he did say he thought it might be James McSweeney of TUF: The Heavyweights. Sefo sounded very confident and excited about that fights potential saying:

“I think if that happens, could be fight of the night.”

The thing is the WSOF event happens on November 3rd and the Titan November event is scheduled for November 2nd. If Spong really is fighting for both orgs (which is entirely possible as Titan contracts allow for fighters to fight with other orgs) at two different events in one weekend then Spong is even more badass than we had already known. That’s not a likely scenario though, which is kind of a bummer because managing to fight two fights in a 48 hour period in two different locations on the planet would give Tyrone Spong immediate Frate Trane list status and probably finally drive Ben Askren off the list much to most of our precious readers’ delight.

It’s more likely that Spong is actually going the route of Miguel Torres, signing with WSOF making his debut with them and then fighting later on in the year at a different Titan FC event. Miguel announced last week that he is off the Titan November card and instead will be fighting for WSOF at their inaugural event. WSOF must have felt guilty about demolishing Titan FCs November card so they are allowing Torres to fight at one other Titan event before the year ends. Could be the same situation with Spong, if so it just hasn’t been officially announced to the public via Titan or Spong’s camp yet.

Either way, We know Spong is coming for the MMA light heavyweight division. When he was in Atlanta for UFC 145, he jokingly told me us he was the best light heavyweight in the world, and I have to tell you he’s definitely got the potential to be just that. [Source]
