Mackenzie Dern Outgrapples Tecia Torres For Split Decision Win – UFC 273 Results (Highlights)

UFC 273 has arrived… and so have the straw weights. The MMA event is happening tonight (Sat., April 9, 2022) from inside the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Fla.

Tecia Torres looks to extend her winning streak to 4, when she takes on submission specialist Mackenzie Dern. Dern looks to bounce back from her main event loss to Marina Rodriguez last October.

Round 1:

Torres and Dern work right away. The two work at a fast pace with their striking and movement. Torres snipes Dern with a multitude of leg kicks and punches. Dern looks to close the distance, putting some heat on her strikes. Dern catches Torres with some good straights. Torres fires off kicks to the body to end the round.

Round 2:

Dern closes the distance, trying to close guard while standing up. Dern tries to go for a kimura lock while Torres carries her weight. Dern uses her feet on the cage to get a better position. They both go to the ground where Dern continues to threaten the submission. Torres survives, getting out of the lock.

Dern then takes a minute and tries to go for a leg lock. Following the attempt, Dern tries to crank her foot the other way.

Round 3:

Dern pours on the pressure against ‘Tiny Tornado’. Dern attempts a takedown and eventually gets it. Torres throws an upkick which lands effectively on Dern. Torres gets up to her feet. Torres lands a few leg kicks from the outside. Dern trips onto the ground and gets back up. Dern ends the fight with a takedown.
