Just because it’s Christmas time doesn’t mean interim champion Tony Ferguson is going to hold back in his pursuit of Conor McGregor.
Ferguson has been looking on McGregor to “defend or vacate” for months now. McGregor won the lightweight title in November 2016 when defeated Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205. At the time, it made him the first concurrent two-division champ in UFC history.
Time may be on Ferguson’s side though; he’s on the sidelines himself with an elbow injury. Although he framed it as a surgery to sharpen his elbows for Conor McGregor-but, it’s apparently not long enough to keep him from using the holidays for yet another McGregor callout.
McGregor’s plans to return remains a mystery, though he recently said he’s not thinking about stepping away from the game at all, and also said his next fight will be in MMA. On the other hand UFC boss, Dana White said, he may never fight again.
With the options available to Mcgregor right now, however, who even knows if he’ll follow the rulebook and give Tony the fight he so desperately craves.
