- Tom Aspinall dismissed the apparent tension between him and Jon Jones
- The interim heavyweight champ insists that he has been ready to take on “Bones”
Tom Aspinall just wants to take on Jon Jones and become the best heavyweight in the world.
No beef
Speaking to JNMEDIAUK, Aspinall lifted the lid on his viral face-to-face encounter with “Bones.” Many are buzzing about Jones brushing Aspinall’s hand off his shoulder. However, the interim heavyweight champ said there was nothing crazy about it.
“I think he thought I was putting my hand on his shoulder being disrespectful. But I wasn’t there to be disrespectful. I was doing it in a friendly way, I’m not trying to cause any beef. I’m trying to fight the guy and take his belt. I have no beef against the guy. I just wanted to meet him, just friendly, nothing crazy.”
Tom Aspinall releases more footage of him approaching Jon Jones earlier today.
He claims he was checking Jon Jones reach when he put his hand on his shoulder.
The video also shows Jon Jones rejecting Tom Aspinall’s request to face off 😂

Tom isn’t interested in online match
Aspinall and Jones have engaged in quite an exchange on social media. While the online war intensifies their potential match, Aspinall said he is not taking anything seriously from online and the only thing he wants is a showdown with Jones.
“Words are words and online is online, I couldn’t care less about it mate, it’s just talking, it’s just talk. I want to fight. I’m not really interested in talking. I’m interested in fighting so when Jon’s ready, I’m sure they’ll let me know and if he’s not ready, I’ll be waiting,” Aspinall said.
“If the fight’s not happening mate it’s not because of me. It’s either because of the UFC or Jon or whoever.”
Aspinall has been patiently waiting for Jones as the reigning heavyweight champ still needs to defend his title against Stipe Miocic. If things would take longer than it’s supposed to, Aspinall said he wouldn’t hesitate to fight someone else and just carry on without Jones.
