Forget Jon Jones new Reebok high budget commercial, Chris Weidman is the true pound for pound king of local advertisement acting. Like looking into a window into his life, when you put the UFC middleweight champion in front of a camera you can’t even tell Weidman is putting on a performance. Though he appears untrained and reading off a script, Weidman is actually method acting.
In order to pull off the role of a MMA fighter working out in a cage, Weidman has to look deep inside his soul for motivation. In this Jewelry Gallery of Oyster Bay commercial, Weidman makes the viewer believe he has no idea what he is doing. Weidman’s critically acclaimed performance could only truly be appreciated by those with a performance art degree from a high society University.
Like the ballet, symphony, or a interpretive dance performance at your local community college, Weidman’s acting work can only be viewed the prism of thespian scholars’s dissertation. Lucky for the rest of us common folk somebody posted it in on Vimeo.
