Alistair Overeem vs. Travis Browne strikes me as one of those fights that could be a sheer improperly matched bout, or a really intense war that could last the duration of the entire fight — and then be screwed up by the judges.
On paper, it’s hard not to see Alistair Overeem winning on the debut of UFC on FOX Sports 1 against Travis Browne. He has the K-1 experience — just the overall MMA experience against Browne. Let’s not forget what The Reem did to Brock Lesnar, the dude kneed him so hard that he retired from MMA at UFC 141. If Brock is a gauge on fighting abilities, then would Browne have produced the same results if he fought Lesnar in 2011?
Applying MMA math to heavyweights is a flawed science. One could even say that technically, Alistair Overeem should have mauled Bigfoot Silva at UFC 156 — and that definitely was not the case.
We’ll see on August 17th 2013 if Browne vs. Overeem will deviate from the conclusion that everyone expects, but in the meantime you should check out this trailer of the upcoming bout by MMA trailer genius, Machinemen.
