Shinya Aoki cranks the win out of Lyle Beerbohm

In the battle of pants, Shinya Aoki’s spastic, seizure inducing spats reign supreme. Tonight, the color spectrum is proud. It has a well-respected representative tapping top-ranked lightweight contention in less than two minutes. In fact, Shinya Aoki is the first person to ever submit Lyle Beerbohm, resulting in only the second loss of his career.

Some of you are going to debate whether Shinya Aoki should be ‘ranked’ in the imaginary list of the top five lightweights in MMA. The blatantly obvious fact still remains, at the end of 2011 a few of you could make the argument that Lyle Beerbohm was the number one ranked lightweight in the world. Certainly he had the longest winning streak than any of his 155 lb colleagues.

Massive props to Shinya Aoki on his seemingly effortless win tonight. The world finally has someone that can instil a bit of hope to Japan and can simultaneously rock perhaps the fanciest pants in MMA.
