Sean Strickland received some advice from Jamahal Hill before his latest bout.

This past Saturday, formerly fourth-ranked contender at middleweight Sean Strickland succumbed to a deadly left hook by Alex Pereira at UFC 276. The former Glory kickboxing two-division champion finished Strickland in the first round with his signature strike, the same one he knocked out Israel Adesanya with.

Turns out, Strickland was warned about that exact set up by a fellow UFC fighter.

UFC Light Heavyweight Jamahal Hill has revealed that he reached out to Strickland on Instagram. Hill sent a private message to the 185 lb contender warning him about how ‘Poatan’ fights.

‘Sweet Dreams’ took to Twitter with the receipts to prove that he cautioned Strickland about Pereira setting up that vicious hook with a 1-2.

Told y’all my IQ was on a different level, these dudes are so predictable. I know exactly what they gonna do. And I tried to warn my man…#UFC276 #IQ

Pereira is likely to challenge for the title next

Just one fight separated from the Brazilian’s finish, ‘Stylebender’ took to the octagon for the main event of the night. Adesanya faced Jared Cannonier and handily dispatched him with a defensive strategy. Adesanya was criticized for putting on an uneventful performance even though he managed to come out on top by a unanimous decision.

Following his latest title defense, Adesanya called out Pereira for his next fight with the Disney movie Frozen reference. The two have competed against each other on two occasions with Pereira securing a victory both times. He’s the only man to have ever knocked out Adesanya, a feat he achieved in kickboxing.

Pereira’s contest with Strickland was widely regarded as the top contender bout with the winner likely to face the champion. Now that ‘Poatan’ has beaten a high-ranked contender, he will likely get his shot at the gold next.

As for Sean Strickland, he moved down to the seventh spot in the rankings and will have to work his way back up to title contention.
