Sean O’Malley weighed in on Chris Weidman’s latest win and Khamzat Chimaev’s upcoming fight.
On Saturday night, Weidman continued to defy the odds by returning to the Octagon for his second fight since breaking his leg against Uriah Hall. The former UFC middleweight champion came up short against Brad Tavares in August 2023 but bounced back by securing a technical unanimous decision against Bruno Silva.
Unfortunately, Weidman’s win wasn’t without controversy, as he eye-poked Silva in the fight-ending sequence. As a result, ‘The All-American’ had his TKO win overturned to a technical decision, while fans called for a no-contest.
During an episode of the TimboSugarShow, Sean O’Malley reacted to Weidman’s win by saying:
“I’m sure that felt good for Weidman to win, but it’s like, god, winning in that fashion. It was the third eye poke. I agree with Weidman with what he said, you can’t fall to the ground like that. Maybe that was his way to try and get the ref. It didn’t look like that. It’s not like he dropped him with a beautiful left hook. 39 years old, 30 surgeries, that’s insane. He looked 39 with 30 surgeries though, the way he moved. Who do they give him next? Does he keep fighting top guys?”

Sean O’Malley claims Khamzat Chimaev “still has question marks” heading into Robert Whittaker fight
Sean O’Malley discussed various topics during his recently released podcast episode, including the UFC Saudi Arabia main event featuring Khamzat Chimaev and Robert Whittaker on June 22. The bantamweight king voiced his excitement for the potential number-one middleweight contender bout and also suggested Chimaev has more to prove:
“Khamzat vs. Whittaker is fire. Khamzat is a character, still questions marks, still exciting. A lot of people that he got exposed against Kamaru Usman, short notice, three rounds.”
Khamzat Chimaev has established a 7-0 UFC record, including five wins inside the distance. With that said, the invincibility of ‘Borz’ has been questioned since his wins against Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns, where he fatigued in the later rounds.
Chimaev has an opportunity to silence the doubters at UFC Saudi Arabi, but it’ll be easier said than done against Robert Whittaker. ‘The Reaper’ is coming off a unanimous decision win against Paulo Costa and plans to earn a shot at regaining UFC gold by emerging victorious on June 22.
