A bantamweight headliner between Cory Sandhagen and Song Yadong is taking place now (Saturday, September 17, 2022) at UFC Vegas 60.
Round 1
Sandhangen advances and shoots early. Song defends but remains clinched up against the fence. Song separates and they return to striking. Sandhagen with a body shot. He misses a spinning wheel kick soon after. Song catches Sandhagen with a nice counter uppercut. Sandhagen eats it and continues to be active. Sandhagen shoots but Song defends and ends up on top. Song takes Sandhagen’s back but Sandhagen slides him off and they return to the feet. Song’s lock is broken. Sandhagen with a nice body kick. Song starts to establish a jab. Song biting a lot more at Sandhagen’s takedown feints. The round ends.
Round 2
Sandhagen with a body kick. Song with some power shots. Song hurts Sandhagen with a left but Sandhagen recovers well. Sandhagen takes Song down but Song gets up to his feet right away. Song is starting to put the pressure on. Sandhagen sees another takedown attempt stuffed. There appears to be a cut on Song’s eyebrow as he’s bleeding quite a bit now. Sandhagen clinches Song against the fence. Song lands some knees before they separate. Song’s cut is pretty significant and it came from an elbow from Sandhagen. Sandhagen with a body kick. Song is the one advancing. Sandhagen connects with a leg kick. Both fighters are swinging as the round ends.
Round 3
Both fighters exchange body kicks. Sandhagen blocks a head kick and lands a couple of leg kicks. Song connects in a combination. Sandhagen’s takedown attempt is stuffed again. Song lands a body kick. Sandhagen partially connects with a step-in knee. Sandhagen level changes twice but continues to see his attempts defended. Sandhagen clinches Song against the fence. They separate. Song continues to march forward. Sandhagen rips the body and partially lands a flying knee.
Round 4
The fight continues despite Song’s cut. Song lands a right. He connects with a check left hook as Sandhagen attempts a body kick. Sandhagen’s kick is caught and Song trips him and ends up on top. Song looks to take his back but Sandhagen gets to his feet and breaks the hold. Sandhagen trips Song but Song gets to his feet. Song showing some urgency now as the blood is pouring down. Sandhagen finally gets Song down and keeps him down as he’s on top. Sandhagen lands a number of punches as the cut is only going to open further. Sandhagen postures up to end the round. This fight might be over.
Official Result: Cory Sandhagen defeats Song Yadong via TKO doctor stoppage (R4, 5:00).
