Ryo ‘Anderson Silva Destroyer’ Chonan will probably go to Dream

Last night when everyone at the American Airlines Center was going through their 80th intermission before the main event, some guy asked me who I think could beat Anderson Silva. I told him Ryo Chonan and he looked at me as if I suddenly transformed into a velociraptor and started clawing at his bottle of Michelob Ultra. Luckily, Michael Schiavello was next to me so I pulled my ‘Schiavello, you know Ryo Chonan?‘ card and I got instant confirmation in the form of an Aussie accent and a witty metaphor (yeah, that’s really how he talks all the time).

Ryo Chonan is really the last guy who beat Anderson Silva. He caught him with an insane flying scissor heel hook that had Silva smacking the mat immediately. We can’t really count Yushin Okami’s victory over Anderson Silva because it came by way of disqualification from an illegal kick in the first round (dude didn’t even get a warning). When we interviewed King Mo he told us that when he trains with Ryo Chonan, he calls him Okama-san. Apparently Okama-San means ‘Mr.Gay’ and King Mo told us that’s a big insult in Japanese culture. At the end of the interview, King Mo also gave a shout-out to his boy Daywalker in the DFW area. I asked King Mo if we saw Daywalker at UFC 103 what should we tell him. He simply said ‘Tell him to start training’.

A couple of months we told you that Ryo Chonan had his debut bout in DEEP after being dropped from the UFC earlier this year. He grabbed a W but now a few Japanese magazines are reporting that Ryo Chonan may in fact be packing his bags and moving to Dream. If the rumors are true then Ryo Chonan will benefit from the MMA Voltron of Strikeforce, M-1 Global and Dream which was announced this summer. Props go to Ryo Chonan for kidnapping Mayhem Miller’s barber. Alright, off to listen to MMAScrapsradio…and put a purple streak in my hair. [Source]
